Flow is the single word describing the integration of Lean Manufacturing at Dotson Iron Castings. We have taken a process approach to organize, improve and standardize many aspects of our work. Whether is a casting moving continuously through the production process or our response to an RFQ, flow means that value is nearly always being added and time spent "waiting” is virtually eliminated
Why is that important to our customers? Flow means speed and rapid response to changing market conditions. Because our flow is very structured, it is also very predictable. It has allowed us to reduce our lead-time by over 75% AND improve our on-time delivery to nearly 99% AND virtually eliminate expediting within the foundry!

The basic facts of our operation:
We melt and pour 100+ tons of gray and ductile iron castings daily. Our castings are produced using 20X24 horizontal, high pressure, green sand molding machines. Our quality system is registered to the ISO 9001 standard. We produce over 3,000 different castings for over 300 customers in wide range of applications including medical, transportation, agriculture, construction and recreation. We have an award winning Engineering Team that specializes in conversions to castings. Raw casting weights range from 1 pound to 55 pounds. Typical production quantities range from 25 pieces to thousands. We can also provide value added services which include machining, heat treatment, painting & coating, assembly and inventory management.
