SHAKEOUT

Shakeout of the castings is the first place where the newly poured castings are seen. The Dotson Company utilizes a Didion rotary media drum to separate the sand from the castings. In 2007 the Dotson Company completed one of it's most complex projects. Walking conveyors were added after the Didion rotary drum to move castings to the de-sprue and shot blast machines. All parts are moved without fork truck traffic.

Dotson castings are some of the few that undergo controlled cooling before being handled. The cooling has no adverse effect on mechanical properties of the castings as the temperature is below that of metal transformation.
